job description

Project outline: the candidate will combine a profound knowledge of immunology and immunological techniques with a strong focus on neuroscience and in particular glial biology. In general, we will investigate the dynamics of autoimmune inflammation in the central nervous system. You will use and help creating different transgenic mouse models to study the complex interactions of activated macrophages with other immune cells, with the central nervous system barriers and with the targets of inflammation within the spinal cord parenchyma. More specifically, we will focus on oxidative mechanisms that lead to oligodendrocyte stress and demyelination in the context of induced neuroinflammation.

About us

The Theodor Kocher Instiutte at the University of Bern is looking for a PhD candidate to join the newly-established group of Dr. Giuseppe Locatelli.
